Club Mandalay is the jewel in the crown of Mandalay’s 2,000 home site development located at Beveridge Victoria, just 45 north of the Melbourne CBD.

The 18-hole Peter Thomson and Ross Perrett designed championship golf course is complemented by premium clubhouse facilities that include restaurant, café, gym, pool, tennis and extensive lawns and gardens.

The Golf and Estate Superintendent is supported by a team of 10 people and operates out of a state-of-the-art maintenance facility with modern Toro equipment.

In addition to managing the golf course, the clubhouse gardens, lawns and residential interfaces, the Golf Course and Estate Superintendent works closely with the developer on the creation, grow-in and maintenance of surrounding common property areas.

Club Mandalay is managed by Australian based golf course management company Avid Sports.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and managing the schedule of works for the Golf Course and Estate teams with maximum efficiencies and productivity.
  • Developing Course and Estate maintenance staff to a high skill level and employ those skills in their day-to-day activity to continually improve productive, efficient and safe work practices.
  • Developing and delivering a budgeted work program to achieve the Course and Estate Maintenance Plan.
  • Implementing a high standard of maintenance to ensure the best presentation of Mandalay Golf Course, clubhouse and estate.
  • Being a leader and integral member of the management team.
  • Providing leadership and direction in on-course developments and improvements.
  • Be dedicated to leading an inclusive and safe environment for golfers and staff.
  • Driving the establishment and implementation of HR management programs including training of employees in turf management best practices.
  • Ensuring effective management of internal and external resources to deliver course maintenance programs.

To be successful, you will have:

  • An in-depth experience in creating and managing a complex schedule of works utilising multiple tools to manage efficiencies, productivity and results.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Superintendent at a golf course.
  • Be systems orientated to include Office 365, Excel and associated labour allocation software.
  • Exceptional planning and communication skills.
  • Have exceptional organizational skills with clear focus on quality and service standards.
  • Experience with the preparation and management of budgets.
  • Be team focused, with strong leadership, training, and staff management skills.
  • Confidence in all areas of WH&S, staff rostering, and other duties related to daily and weekly golf course maintenance.
  • A full understanding of all current golf course machinery operations and experience in managing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Experience in irrigation and maintenance issues.
  • Relevant Sports Turf Management or Horticultural Trade or equivalent qualifications.
  • Accreditation in Chemical Applications & Safe Handling
  • Current Drivers Licence (C class)
  • Experience in procurement of goods and services.
  • Current Satisfactory National Police Clearance
